Spotlight on Alpha Bacar Barry

My Background

I am from Guinea and have a Bachelor degree in Communication and Information Sciences from Conakry University, and a Master of Science from Anglia Ruskin University (UK) in Management. I have lived in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, the UK and Austria.

I am currently working in African countries like Cameroon, Nigeria, Cabo Verde as a UN consultant, visiting on a regular basis. In 2010, after four years working as an employment expert for UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), I decided to return home to start a microfinance company.

In 2013, in partnership with the Norwegian Government, we launched the very first incubator in Guinea called Be the Change Academy. We trained and mentored over 6,000 young men and women on how to set up, run and develop companies.

In 2015, we created Sincery, a tech company that manufactures tablets, laptops and smartphones. In 2017, a new company was launched in the agribusiness sector called Aoudy. We process local agro products for export purposes.

Years of Experience

Of Which in Africa

I Made It This Far

Identifying opportunities, designing relevant solutions and working hard to supply the customer with my products and services enabled me to get where I am now.

My Proudest Achievement

I am the most proud of setting up a company with EUR 10.000 in 2010 that turned into a million dollar turnover company in 2018 by designing, manufacturing and selling over 6,000 pieces of didactic tablets for Africans.

My Industry Outlook

Microfinance and more generally the banking sector is one of the most growing sectors in Africa. With incoming technologies, the penetration rate of banking products and services will rapidly match the demographic growth of the continent.

For The Club

I wish to offer mentoring and my advice about investments in Africa and I hope to discover and invest in some promising start ups.

From The Club

I wish to gain an enlarged business network, more experience and also mentoring and coaching in unknown sectors.

Ange Fandoh | Certified Business & Music Career Coach

As President of the African Union

I would enable visa free travel and stay to all Africans and to international investors investing in the continent.
